This isn’t just a tutoring center for homework help. A Fit Learning session is a fast-paced, goal-oriented, high energy instructional interaction with a Fit Coach, who is extensively trained and certified in the principles of learning science. The experience fundamentally transforms a child’s academic aptitude and overall cognitive abilities. We consistently produce 1-2 grade levels of improvement in 40 hours – something standard tutoring in reading, math, writing, logic, and language simply cannot achieve.

Most graduates of Fit Learning go on to finish high school and many have the opportunity to attend the colleges and Universities available to them.

Fit Learning Dublin Tutoring Center Curriculum
The school environment can often be challenging for a child. Sometimes, the challenge is so great that its detrimental effects outweigh the benefits. Additionally, there are times when a school placement fails to maximize a child’s full potential. In these cases, a homeschool placement is recommended. When choosing Fit homeschool, parents elect through their school district to homeschool their child. Fit then provides homeschool support and supplementation in core skill areas. Children attend Fit sessions from two to six hours per day three to five days per week and receive intensive one-on-one academic and cognitive training.
Founder – Michael R. Johnston, Ph.D., BCBA-D
Dr. Michael Johnston brings 20+ years of experience in Behavior Analysis and Education. He has worked in private consultation, supervised Behavior Consultants and run an in-home support service agency for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. For the last 10 years, Dr. Johnston has worked in the field of Special Education in California, in both public and non-public schools, and held positions in clinical, administrative, and leadership roles. Dr. Johnston has taught undergraduate and graduate courses at several universities nationally and internationally, including courses taught to students in Canada, Nevada, Wisconsin, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Michael Johnston graduated from the University of Alberta (BSc. Hon.) before completing the Ph.D. program at the University of Nevada, Reno. This is where he also met his wife, Dr. Cristin Johnston (co-owner of Fit Learning Bay Area). Michael has a passion for animals, and for running and staying fit (competing in several 50K ultramarathons) and enjoys the adventure of having a family and raising two children in the Pleasanton area.
Center director’s reason for joining the Fit Network: After having our 3rd grade child (diagnosed with ADHD) enroll with Fit Learning Reno in the 2018-19 school year, it was clear that Fit Learning vastly improved his educational trajectory and saved our family from the stress we were all feeling as a result of his struggles with school. Our child’s relationship with learning had been broken – he was despondent, had a skillset full of holes in many of his foundational reading, mathematics and writing skills and had an extremely negative view of himself and his abilities. After completing his first 40 hour enrollment with Fit many of these areas of need were completely fixed or showed major progress. Most importantly, his relationship with learning had been repaired! Finally, as a professional behavior analyst working in Education in California for the past 10 years, I always felt I wanted to do more than I could achieve in the strict roles within a school district. Using the science of learning harnessed by Fit Learning’s individualized approach, which includes making school work engaging, enriching, and fun for students was something I knew I had to do. I am excited to bring this amazing approach to learning to many more families and students in the Bay Area!
